KAIZEN KIDS FITNESS CLASSES

We are proud to announce we are now offering a kids fitness program for kids seven years old and up. We are currently holding classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30pm and for Teens on Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm. The mission of the kids program is to strengthen both mind and body through physical training and to help the kids gain the knowledge and develop skills which will empower them for a lifetime. Why we chose to call it Kaizen Kids Fitness? Kaizen is a Japanese word that means slow but consistent progress and constant and never ending improvement. Applying this mindset and philosophy to exercise and life makes the seemingly impossible probable.

From a personal perspective the kids program is important for several reasons. First, as a parent it is very important that my children be involved in an exercise program, especially where proper form and movement are taught. The importance of exercise for health is well documented but many valuable life lessons can also be learned through the program we are developing.

Second, it is important to me as a coach to pass on what I have learned about exercise and sport not only to my children and the adults we work with but to other children as well. Childhood obesity and other health issues that accompany it are continuing to grow.

We intend to have a positive impact on the kids in our program so that they do not fall victim to a sedentary lifestyle and learn how to exercise properly but to also enjoy the process so that they continue to exercise for life. The immediate impact will be in terms of fitness, health, and athletic ability. Also, confidence and self esteem will grow. Lastly, as an athlete it is extremely important to pay it forward. As a kid I was not blessed with natural athletic ability but was fortunate to have support from my parents and encouragement from great coaches when I began participating in sports. I learned many important life lessons from sport and physical training such as the value of hard work, discipline, and goal setting. Coaches probably have had a greater impact on my life than anyone other than my parents. I hope to have a similar effect on the kids in our program.
